Product Overview
The EliteBook Folio 1020 is powered by a 1.10GHz Intel Core M-6Y54 processor, backed by an 8 GB internal memory and a 256GB SSD internal storage. The low-voltage processor is built specifically for slim-bodied ultrabooks and tablets, providing more processing power than an Intel Atom processor. Office users will also appreciate that the EliteBook Folio 1020 is compatible with the HP 2013 UltraSlim Docking Station. Connecting through the laptop’s integrated docking port, this docking station is ideal for desktop use, adding VGA output, two full-size DisplayPorts, an Ethernet port, four USB 3.0 ports, and audio-in and -out ports.
Built for Work
With Intel’s HD Graphics 515 (an integrated graphics solution), the laptop shows decent performance in 3DMark Cloud Gate and Fire Strike Extreme, but you won’t be gaming much on it. Graphics performance isn’t bad for the category, but as seen in the Heaven (8 frames per second) and Valley (9fps) medium-quality tests, these machines are built for work, not play. Sleek, stylish notebooks with business-class power and industry-leading security. Engineered to pass rigorous military tests for durability, you can take it wherever your work leads you—and anywhere else you want to go.
Sturdy Body Construction
The aluminum-and-magnesium-alloy construction isn’t just for looks. The choice of these materials is mainly limited to aluminum or magnesium parts and is largely used on the casing and on the chassis. A reason for that could be the temperature management strategy since this Folio does not have a fan. The EliteBook Folio 1020 is built to MIL-STD 810G standards, which include a range of semi-rugged capabilities, like surviving four-foot drops, functioning in spite of shock and vibration, and withstanding pretty significant temperature fluctuations. It’s not the laptop to carry into a warzone, but you can travel with without worry.
Keyboard and Touchpad
The keyboard uses HP’s usual tile design, with square keys and half-size keys for the arrows and function buttons, but it offers decent feedback and key travel. Backlighting on the keys makes it easier to type in a dark or dim room, while a spill-resistant design means you can eat lunch at your desk or take the laptop to Starbucks without living in fear of spills. More intriguing is the touchpad, which uses HP’s ForcePad, a glass-surfaced touch sensor that registers the pressure of every touch and swipe to give you all of the usual point-and-click and multitouch gesture support you expect, but without any moving parts. The right and left buttons don’t actually click, but are merely touch zones along the bottom of the sensor.
Blazing Fast Connectivity
There’s a better selection of ports in this ultraportable, with an HDMI output, two USB 3.0 ports, a microSD card slot, a headset jack, and a Kensington lock slot. There’s also a docking port (more on that in a moment), with a dongle that uses the docking port to offer VGA and Ethernet. Wireless connectivity abounds, with dual-band 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, WiDi, and Miracast wireless display streaming, and NFC.
Intel Core m5-6Y54
The Intel Core m5-6Y54 is a very power efficient dual-core SoC based on the Skylake architecture and has been launched in September 2015. Thanks to its extremely low TDP, the CPU can be found in passively cooled tablets and 2-in-1 notebooks. In addition to two CPU cores with Hyper-Threading clocked at 1.1 – 2.7 GHz (2 cores: max. 2.4 GHz), the chip also integrates an HD Graphics 515 GPU and a dual-channel LPDDR3-1866/DDR3L-1600 memory controller. The chip is manufactured using a 14 nm process with FinFET transistors.
MIL STD 810G Certified
MIL STD 810G is series of tests designed by the U.S military to test its equipment limits in various conditions where it is expected to be used (environment) or transported (shocks). The test vary according to the nature, size and weight of the equipment tested. The tailoring process described in this standard (i.e., systematically considering detrimental effects that various environmental factors may have on a specific material system throughout its service life) applies throughout the material acquisition cycle to all material developed for military or commercial applications.
Note: This Elitebook does not come with an Optical Drive but you can purchase a portable DVDrw from Saruk Digital Solutions.
